January 2013 ~ Beginner Genealogy Workshop
Interested in finding out about your family history but don't know where to start? Join TMS on January 26, 2013 for a Beginner Genealogy Workshop to be presented at the historic P.J. Ahern Home in Texarkana, Arkansas.
Local genealogist, Nancy Tribbey will give you an overview of the resources available to new family historians. The most daunting part of family history is knowing where to start and how to use the tools available. Mrs. Tribbey will discuss all the strategies and beginning steps in starting your family history journey. After a short refreshment break, researcher Elfie Eittel Wilde will guide you through census records and teach participants how to use these important documents.
Limit 30 participants. The cost is $15 per participant. Credit Card payments may be made via Paypal through this form. Light refreshements, beverages and workshop materials provided. Registration is required. For more information please contact workshop coordinator, Jamie Simmons, at 903-793-4831.
Each participant will receive a handbook with lecture outlines, genealogy forms, resource lists (including online repositories) and the addresses to local courthouses and other sources of public information. Light refreshments will be made available during the break and participants can participate in a short tour of the Ahern Home, a 1905 Classical Revival style mansion in the heart of the Quality Hill Historic District.
