Join us at the historic Ahern House for a beginner's workshop in basic hatmaking. Participants will learn how to build and cover a simple wired frame hat using materials easily found in local stores. No sewing experience is necessary. All materials, including needle and thread, provided in a Hatmaking Kit. Refreshments provided. Workshop will be held in the parlor of the Ahern House on Laurel Street in Texarkana, Arkansas. Cost is $65 per participant. Limit 15 participants.
The purpose of this workshop is to familiarize participants with the basic tools and techniques used in making wire framed hats. In addition, participants will learn how to cover the finished frame with fashion fabric and add embellishments such as feathers. The methods demonstrated apply to building wire frame hat bases only and do NOT include blocking felt.
